This is a private swiftwater rescue course for the Civil Support Team and is not open for public registration. 

This course is designed as the dominant course to get agencies and responders the training needed to become competent responders in a swift water environment.

Space is limited to 16 students and will be taught by SSI lead instructor, Eric Riley. Class fills up fast, so register early!

NFPA 1006 & 1670 COMPLIANT: Yes

WHO THIS IS FOR: Agency members or those requiring NFPA compliant training for employment/response.

ONLINE COMPONENT: Yes – Required

COURSE FORMAT: 3-day NFPA Technician Level course with 2 hours of online training prior to start date. 8 hours each day of in-field training. Total class length: 26hrs.

1. Proficient swimmer

2. Physically capable

4. Pass online training with a minimum 80%

ABOUT THIS COURSE:

This 3 day “Technician” level course generally has 2 hours of classroom instruction each morning to front-load the days objectives. This will be immediately followed-up with developing and practicing technical water and rope rescue skills throughout the remainder of the day. The initial emphasis is on self-rescue and hazard avoidance, and other objectives include hydrology, hazards and obstacles, basic rescue equipment, setting up basic rope systems, controlling in-water contact rescues, extrication, site control and scene management, as well as understanding the common terminology related to all swift water rescue deployments. In order for personnel to meet all training objectives for Operations and Technician. A technical level ropes course is required and the onus is on the agency/personnel taking the course. We will execute all in-water required training during our PRO-SAR course under the NFPA framework.
